The North West Region Cross Border Groups’ Renewable Energy Business Network - Ren Net visited Austria last week to attend the World Sustainable Energy Days Conference and Energiesparmesse Tradeshow in Wels. The conference attracts more than 800 participants from over 61 countries and the tradeshow is Austria's leading exhibition for innovative construction, efficient energy use and energy production with over 900 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors.
Ren Net is a local renewable cross-border energy suppliers network providing products, services and advice. Businesses that took part in this visit were supported by Donegal County Council and included: Efficient Heating & Plumbing, Mullan Consulting Engineers Ltd, WIAC, MK Flooring, Northern Bio Energy Ltd, Wind Pioneer, B. Donaghey and Sons Ltd, Original Heating Ltd, ABuild, John Mc Fadden Electrical, Axon Power & Control, CMG Plumbing, Heating & Renewables, Abercorn Estate, Houston Home Products, Renewable Building Technologies Ltd and Patrick Mc Caul Environmental Consulting Engineers.
Joanne Holmes, Donegal County Council said that “it was a hugely beneficial trip as members made new connections, found new suppliers and saw the advances being made in Europe to meet Renewable Energy targets. It proved a great networking experience for the members as they got time to spend with each other to develop their relationships and a greater understanding of each others products and services”.
She added “Ren Net members also met with Smart Eco Hub members - another cross border cluster organisation for the sustainable energy sector based in the East Border Region. Members of both networks took part in Business to Business (B2B) meetings; these offered the chance to meet potential international cooperation partners. Ren Net and Smart Eco Hub also attended a networking dinner with the Upper Austrian Chamber and a delegation from Croatia”.
The Ren Net project is part funded by the European Union's European Regional Development Fund through the INTERREG IVA Programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
